Lesson #1: How to *not* sell a Mac to an intelligent person. ::sdaflsadhfasdlfkhasdlk:: (thank you
designer_fetus)
Last night I filled out my ballot before going to bed--a lot of the Lane County measures didn't make a whole ton of sense to me, but then again, it was 1 am and they all involved bond issues and other weird crap that I'm not all that familiar with because I haven't been voting for very long. :p But at least I got a good feel for candidates and state measures. (I still don't really like *either* of the candidates' campaign practices, but eh, I guess I have to look past that)
So, hey, DON'T FORGET TO VOTE TODAY! Or I will beat you with stick! ^_-
I have a midterm at 2 today, and I have just now learned that it's open-text open-notes. ::dies of shock:: I don't even have my text *with* me! So, I'm trying to get through to home on the phone and see if anyone will run it by here before the end of my shift.
But of course, the line is busy. AUGH!
Anyways, I don't have much else to say at the moment, so I'm off!

I mean, they didn't ever say, "Mac can help you because..." or anything.

Date: 2002-11-05 04:38 pm (UTC)I didn't bother voting. I don't see the point when you don't like any of the political candidates, and haven't properly researched the proposed legislation. (In my case, as far as I can tell, three of them are clones and the other one is Libertarian, which makes him interesting but utterly insane.)

I heard about the ad previously, but I was reminded of it today.
I think I've resigned myself to the whole "lesser of two evils" thing when voting on candidates. They all invariably suck.

Date: 2002-11-05 06:55 pm (UTC)At first, when I saw the Ellen Feiss commercial, I thought, "what are they trying to say? That PC's always crash, so you should switch to Mac?" I found the commercial pretty ambiguous. But then after watching all the other commercials and coming back to the Ellen Feiss one, it seemed to make sense within the context of everything else.
I don't have television, so I've never seen any of these commercials before. Are they actually playing the Ellen Feiss commercial by itself?

Date: 2002-11-05 08:07 pm (UTC)When it comes down to it, that's pretty much it. I don't think it's very ambiguous at all. There's a strong population of people out there who have never had a stable computer. Those people may or may not be familiar with what the Macintosh is these days. The commercials aren't supposed to convert you, they're supposed to get you to say "Hey, what's up with these things?" Just spark your curiosity. And it's doing a tremendous job..
I have a television, but I rarely turn it on. As I understand it, these ads run in primetime on the major networks.
