Y'know what this campus *really* needs? Someplace where people that live off-campus can check in, lock up their backpacks, and lay down and catch a few extra winks between classes.

Seriously, there have been so many times when I have a break between classes, and I desperately want to take a nap, but there's not enough time to go home and actually do that. And there's nowhere on campus where I'd feel like I was able to sleep without getting my bag stolen or being molested by random strangers while I slumber.

Today is one of those times, actually. I WANT A NAP RIGHT FREAKIN' NOW! x_x But I'm not going to get one until I get home at, say, 7:30. And by then, I might as well just go to bed for the night.

It's times like this when the dorms start to actually seem appealing again. The 5 extra blocks make more of a difference than you'd think.

And on that note, I'm off to class

If you go to the EMU there're lockers for rent just inside the door that heads to the lab (the one by the sports office or whatever that thing is) and there are some comfy couches a few dozen feet above in the atrium area that I've slept on a number of times.

i miss the EMU... then again i kinda stopped going there after the bowling alley was gone. groups of us from the UI used to raid it and do "white trash olympics™" -- pool, bowling, video games, ping pong... was awesome.

man, i haven't been to eugene in 5 years now. never seemed that long til i put a number before the years.

That's what I liked about CMU. Computer Clusters in the art building were always safe to sleep in. I never did, but one classmate was almost always either on his computer, sleeping next to it while it rendered his 3-d project, or sleeping on a bench while it rendered his 3-d project. :)

I always thought the library was a good place to catch some z's. Plenty of out of the way nooks where nobody goes. So I'd find one, slip my hands through my pack straps so nobody could mess with it without waking me and doze off. Its quiet too :)

i used to fall asleep in classes, mostly linguistics teachers who always talked in theory and literals, never any stories or anecdotes. occasionally i'd pass out in 150 Columbia or some other lecture hall for CS classes. they had to make all of them at 08:00 back then. ugh.

kinda sucks waking up surrounded by a bunch of freshman in a writing 121 class going, "wtf?"

~sigh~ college... miss those days. if i could havbe college without the drama in my life that happened outside of but during my college years i'd be happy.
