Aaaaand LJ is back to normal! Woohoo! Damn, you guys rock.

I'm trying to think of a name for Mr. iBook. I'm thinking a small and cute anime character, since A) my desktop machine is named after an anime character, and B) Mr. iBook is going to be a small and cute machine. Grant got me going on the mascot-ish angle by suggesting PenPen, but I'm still undecided. Perhaps I should sample Mr. iBook's personality before I name him/her/it.

I'm surprised at how quickly the day has gone by, all things considered. I figured it'd craaawwwwl by because I got here early and because I thought I'd be ass tired all day. But I'm actually really awake for getting only 5 hours of sleep. Weird. Maybe it's the Jane Fonda tape and the Pilates workouts?

Go themed.

If your desktop machine is Inaho, name the iBook Yuki. Thanks to a naming convention started five years ago, all the computers in my house are Fushigi Yugi; Mike's currently running Tasuki, Hotohori's about to be retired, and Chichiri's mine. At my last job all the computers on the network had to be named after bands, which was really fun when I had to set up and network a couple of the machines--I got to inflict my taste on the machines, so we had the row of machines named after old Jamaican musicians. (My two machines were Sugar and Huskerdu, natch).

Endorse!

My plan at one point was to name all my compyooters, Macs or otherwise, starting with Nacchan (G4@work was to be named Seira; I never did rename "Macintosh HD" to anything else...). Still, it would be nifty to have a fleet of Big O-themed computers... This is Roger! This is Dorothy-1! This is Norman! This is Angel! and so on...

Anpanman! Currypanman! Shokupanman! Melonpanna!

Heh, I've already pretty much taken the Mosquiton theme to its limits, cos I named my two hard drives Honou and Yuuki. And Alyson's computer is Mo-chan. ^^;;;;

Oooo, I'd enjoy carrying R. Dorothy Wayneright around with me! Of course, that would then be the second weird anime redhead in my computing empire... ::giggle::

We have naming scheme, too. PCs and Xterms are inner senshi, Macs are outer senshi.

usagi -> linux box
rei -> dualboot videoediting win98 lite box
makoto -> dualboot gaming box
minako -> sparc classic

hotaru -> graphite imac
michiru -> now-dead powerbook 180

Rei and Mako are known as Mandala and Pressure when booted into windows.
