batskeets: (yan!)
Heh, it's been a big week in the Skeets-verse.

I've been published on a respectable internet news outlet twice: once for my photos at geek burlesque back in May, and the other for my photos from PAX. It's neat that I can go out and about, photographing things that I find interesting, and have them generate interest among people whom I don't know personally.

Oh, and I also hip-checked the bejeezus out of somebody on local TV, heh. (around the 0:45 mark in the video) Okay, so that was a totally mediocre hip check by my standards--and I'm better at shoulders and sternum busters, anyway--but still, me on skates, on TV, looking reasonably competent. Whee!

Being able to say yes to opportunities when they come up has definitely been a perk of Funemployment.

This weekend, pretty much everything I do will be geeky or derby-related, heh:
  • Tonight, J and I will be seeing The Doubleclicks--an adorable local geek girl band--at The Waypost.
  • Tomorrow morning, I'm going to open scrimmage on concrete floor, which should be, er, interesting.
  • I also have FLOOR ACCESS at Regionals tomorrow, so I'm going to go, watch bouts, and shoot some amazing derby.
  • Then, we're going to catch the late show at geek burlesque, and I'll probably turn into a pumpkin after that.
  • Sunday, I've been shanghaied into working a vendor booth for a couple of hours, and then I'm doing fan coverage at Regionals for that other web site I shoot for.
So, yeah. It's time to DO ALL THE THINGS. Woo!

(and speaking of, if you want to join me for any of the above, you totally should. Well, except scrimmage, because they're not allowing spectators this time, for some reason)
