Late Weekend Update
Aug. 10th, 2010 03:19 pmThere has been SO MUCH WORKING. And also doing, and seeing, and enjoying.
Friday: Tom Lenk show! I met up with
katlyn and
marykae at the venue, just in time to horf down part of a fruit and cheese plate and catch the show. Basically, the show was largely him telling stories about his recent stint on Broadway, but it was hilarious, adorable, and endearing, and I kind of wanted to put him in my pocket and take him home with me. I'm sometimes amazed at the ability some people have to share stories from their lives, and do so in a way that elevates them from being mere anecdotes to full-on entertainment. And afterwards, we got to have drinks with
twilite_embrace and shoot the breeze over in NW.
Saturday: Derbyderbyderby. I took the morning off to myself, and just went to Wreckers practice, and it was, unfortunately, one hour of skating and one hour of track cleaning. But, I still had plenty of time to feel utterly confounded by the puzzle of how to turn around in my skates in a non-clumsy fashion. It got easier once I figured out which was my Good Side--call Derek Zoolander, because I can't turn left--but it's still not entirely intuitive for me. YET. Then, I was off to a truly excellent evening at the Bite of Oregon, Ground Kontrol, drinks at Alu, and a nice stroll along the waterfront. And, all of this with some surprisingly Good Company. Tasty noms, video games, enjoyable libations, fresh air, and good conversation? YES PLEASE. All told, it was a pretty amazing day.
Sunday: I was too riled up after my Saturday evening to sleep much, so I spent most of the day in the mental fog that comes with running on 3 1/2 hours of sleep, but eh, worth it. And, waking up early meant conducting crazy waffle experiments for Veronica Mars Breakfast Land! Since we were attempting to make breakfast-y fair food, I made peanut butter waffles on a stick with raspberry jam for dipping, and then made more waffles with gruyere and turkey bacon on the inside. The former needed more peanut butter in the batter, but the latter was a definite success.
Anyhoo, I'm trying to focus on work right now, and only marginally succeeding, but I have a photoshoot this afternoon, so my predicament will soon be coming to an end. Well, for now, at least. ;)
