Upside down

I decided yesterday was a good time to try something new, so I went to an aerial arts class after work! It was *really* hard, but not in the way I expected it to be. I figured that, since wushu has made my legs all huge and super-ripped, that my upper-body and core muscles might not be tough enough, but they actually held up pretty well! I'll probably feel it in my shoulders tomorrow, but I guess the circuit training over the past few months has done some good.

No, the hard part was my HANDS. We did a lot of beginning work on the silks, and grabbing onto it tires out your hands SO quickly! They had a sticky spray to apply to your hands that'd help with the gripping, but even with that, my hands were still hurting like crazy. It was a small class--maybe 5 people including me--but I was definitely the resident klutz of the session, because I was so focused on just maintaining my grip that I couldn't think about much else. Once we switched to the hoop, though, I picked things up a lot faster, just because it was that much easier on my hands.

Anyhoo, it was fun and interesting way to move myself around, and it's nice to use my upper-body more, since my lower-body gets such a pounding at wushu. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to go to these classes, because it is something of an expense, but I definitely want to go again sometime.

Trying to get to class, and then home from class, however, was *really* frustrating. Tri-Met was all screwed up, and I had to scramble to get anywhere that I was going, because buses kept showing up way earlier than the Transit Tracker said they would. I'd show up at the stop several minutes early, just in time to see the bus leave without me, and I'd have to run up the street and try to figure out if there was another bus that would get me in the general direction I needed to go.

After being left behind by FOUR different buses, I finally just had Boy come pick me up. It was almost 9pm at that point, and I'd wasted a good 2 1/2 hours dicking around with the goddamned bus system. Tri-Met service is seriously going down the crapper, and it's pissing me off pretty hard. :p

It's a busy Tuesday here at the jobbyjob. There have been a lot of busy days, recently, but I'm hanging in there. I kind of wish I could plan a bit more for PAX, but I don't know when I'll have time...
