Well, today seems to be the direct opposite of yesterday: it's 11am, and I haven't done a speck of work. They just now finished moving my desk to my new office, and I don't even have a computer on it, yet. So, I guess I have an excuse to fart around on my laptop and do nothing, eh? ;) Seems like a good day for a long lunch.

Warning: wushu blather ahead, for those who don't know WTF I'm talking about and would rather skip this. ;)

Registration just opened for Berkeley this morning, so I guess I need to think FAST about what I'm going to do for that. Since I sliced open my hand and wound up not competing last year, I would like to do *something* this year... ideally, at least 2 events.

The last time I competed there, I registered for FOUR events: changquan, broadsword, staff, and nanquan, the latter of which I wound up dropping, because I was coaching that year, and I didn't have enough time to prepare well for all my events.

As for what the hell I do now? I don't know, because I've been tossed around in the belt factory for the past year and a half, and haven't been training competition-level forms in regular class. I think best-case scenario would be nanquan and broadsword, since I've been doing competition-level nanquan for demo team, and I can probably spend some demo team hours on my sword form.

I was vaguely considering becoming an all-Southern-style specialist for competition purposes, since I'm already doing nanquan, and competition class has been learning Southern weapons. But, Sifu has, of course, been stubborn about letting me into competition class, even though I've said multiple times that all I want to do is work hard and be challenged while I'm in class. Now that I only have 2 months left, even if I *could* convince them to teach me nandao and nangun, learning them both by Berkeley is totally out of the question. :p

Ugh, if the bloody school would just teach me the forms that I want to learn, then this wouldn't be an issue! But, it is. SIGH. I guess I'll talk to Master Chen on Friday and see if I can get him in my corner on some of this stuff.

Ugh

I know I've complained about my work computer a lot already, but JESUS CHRIST this "new" computer they gave me seems slow. I'm just copying over backups from a network drive, and it's taking 3 times as long it took on my old computer. MY GOD.

I miss my Mac Pro. ;_;
