I just looked at my calendar for the next two weeks, and DEAR GOD it's going to be busy. The madness begins tomorrow, and I apologize in advance for any social neglect on my part.
Anyhoo, last night was comedy open mic, which Andy does regularly. The rest of us don't normally go, because there are a *lot* of comics, and most of them are either testing out new (and potentially bad) jokes, or they just aren't any good at comedy at all. But, we went last night, because Serafin decided to sign up, so we figured it'd at least be interesting to see how he did.
His time on stage was, well, pretty bumpy, and a lot of it was due to nerves, which can easily kill even a well-tested set of jokes. It was obvious, too, because he made random quips in response to other people's acts, and they were hilarious, but when it was his turn? He freaked out and almost didn't go up at all. Getting comfortable on stage is half the battle, and it's definitely not an easy one, but hey, even if he never does it again, he's still a funny person to know. :)
And speaking of funny: The first time I went to this particular open mic, one of the first few comics was, well, not terribly funny, and I was wondering if the bartender was bringing me a new Diet Coke, so I wasn't paying attention to the guy's act. He apparently noticed my incredibly bored expression, and decided to start taking pot shots at me. (which, incidentally, got far more laughs than his actual material ;p) This basically prompted every comic after that to also make fun of me or otherwise draw attention to me, which got really effing tiresome after a while.
Flash forward to last night's show: one of the comics had seen our website, and had also seen Andy's headshot on it, so he talked to Andy about it without knowing who we were, and Andy told him we were at the show. So, we were eventually introduced after the show... and it was THAT FREAKING GUY. XD
The whole introduction was incredibly awkward, but it's not exactly uncommon for comedic performers to get quiet and awkward once you get them offstage, so it could've been anything. Still, I was standing there the entire time thinking, "does he remember...?"
Baaahaha. We are so charging him extra.
Or, you know, not. But he'd better buy a big package!
(yes, I'm kidding)
