Real ID is coming your way

Chertoff unveils new rules for driver's licenses: if you're in my generation--which many/most of you are--you'll be required to have a Homeland-Security-approved driver's license by 2014.

Also note that: To comply with the new rules, states must design licenses that include embedded security features set by Homeland Security and digital photographs.

I'm sure those "embedded security features" include some form of the infamous RFID tag.

Be worried, y'all.

It's official: I have survived my first-ever trip to an IKEA store. XD And, yes, now I do kind of get the fascination. Their showroom *is* pretty rad, and I'd like nothing better than to hijack the store after closing and do a bunch of photoshoots there, because it would look awesome. I'm still not hungering to buy everything in the place like some of you crazy people, though. ;)

Also, their mattresses are ridiculously cheap! Our current one is getting hard to the point where laying on my side causes my limbs to fall asleep, so we may brave the IKEA again soon to test out mattresses. Good sleep is too important!

If you hadn't guessed, the whole arms-falling-asleep issue is why I haven't yet done a morning run. My sleep has been far too fitful for me to justify getting up early. :( So, until the sleep situation improves, running in the evening it is.

In other news, we shot a holiday party on Saturday, so we were working that until after 11pm, but it was pretty fun! They had an 80's Prom theme for the party, so in addition to doing photojournalistic candids, we also had to set up a "photo booth" sort of thing, like they have at high school proms. The outfits the attendees came up with were hilarious, everyone loved the photo booth, and the party organizer was really happy with us. (to the tune of an extra $50 tip!) Their company apparently throws a lot of similar events, which they'll definitely be keeping us in mind for, so yeah, we did good. Woo!

Speaking of photo stuff, here's a few from Yet Another Nerd Shoot. This chick was relatively new to the game, but she was easy to direct, and her pinched facial expressions worked better than I expected. :)

Diet Hell Countdown: 7 days! I'm halfway! I've done surprisingly well at staying on-plan, and I'm not even feeling all that deprived, so I'm pretty confident. The weight doesn't seem to be coming off the way it usually does during Phase 1, but they say it's harder to take pounds off when you have fewer pounds to get rid of, and the last time I did this was 40-50 lbs. ago, so, yeah.
