Weekend

Completely un-shocking: I'm still tired. Wooyea.

Wushu on Friday ran late, partly because Phil was fixing my broadsword form, and also because Nathan hasn't been able to figure out any more of the Nanquan form since I moved away. He's been watching competition videos and trying hard, and there's a lot of complexity in Nanquan that's easy to miss, when you see a form run at regular speed, so he deserved some help from me on that. :)

I also got conscripted into doing an 8am demo with the squad on Saturday morning, so that meant arriving on campus at 7:30, and *that* meant getting out of bed with barely 6 hours of sleep. It just reinforced the fact that I *really* don't like morning demos. The only up side was free muffins and juice.

I got back just in time for the birthday-related shenanigans, which included laser tag. I thought at first that we were paintballing, so I was much relieved that it was laser tag (what? I bruise easily!), and I wound up doing pretty well, too. I also took an unscheduled-but-much-needed nap, but it didn't ultimately help much. We made dinner for the whole family, so that was quite a process, but it turned out all right.

Sunday was non-stop insanity from 6:45am onward. After waking up 3 times and being freaked because I thought I'd slept through the alarm, I got up and hauled myself out to Corvallis to shoot a duathlon. Then it was down to Junction City to drop off the TiVo, then back up the highway to my house, with just enough time to shower and get over to Fashion Week and shoot there.

Both shoots were actually pretty easy and turned out well--shooting fashion shows seems like cake, after shooting some of the really huge races we've done in recent months--but if it hadn't been for a 20 oz. latte, 2 cups of french press, and a couple of Bawls energy drinks they gave away at Fashion Week, I probably would've fallen asleep standing up. I thought I'd catch up on sleep after I got home from the fashion show at 9:30ish, but I wound up having to go back to the studio to get a power supply, and then I was up until midnight downloading race photos and uploading them to the client's server, via incredibly-flaky FTP connection. Blargh.

Yesterday pretty much sucked. Not only was I tired as hell, but I had a performance evaluation, too. Don't get me wrong, everything went fine, it just felt like torture because I hadn't gotten a proper night's sleep in several days, and that's on top of The Red Devil visiting. I don't know how I made it through the day--probably by eating constantly, LOL--but I did.

Maybe I'll post some pictures tomorrow or the next day, after I catch up on sleep. I got 9 hours last night, but that *still* wasn't enough. ::dies::

Next weekend should be fairly relaxed-and-groovy, thank GOD. My costume will also be rad, but probably only to me and maybe a very small sub-set of fanboys who actually know what it is. But, hell, that's how most of my costumes have been these past few years, so I'm used to it. ;)
