I was a bit worried about being too busy this weekend, but we had some good times.
After wushu on Saturday, we hit up the Pittock Mansion, briefly. It was the Smithsonian's Museum Day, so all we had to do was fill out an online form and get free admission. W00t. :D The place was pretty cool--for some reason, I really enjoyed the weird old-style shower/faucet fixtures and functions, heh--and the grounds outside were gorgeous. I definitely want to do a shoot up there sometime.
Unfortunately the Pittock Mansion thing was a bit rushed, because I had set up a shoot later in the afternoon... and yes, it was another Nerd theme. Haha!
( Another Nerd! (+4) )
She was really funny to shoot with... I didn't really end up doing much direction, because it was entertaining enough having her flail around and amuse herself. I definitely have a thing for models who are willing to get dorky at a shoot, heh. :)
Speaking of which, we did another shoot yesterday, which took for-freaking-EVER, (the makeup/hair process was slow, but hey, at least I got caught up on my photoshoot backlog) and that model was really silly and fun, too. She was kind of dorky, and she was hopping around a lot to stay warm, and it was just cute.
Outside of the whole picture-taking thing, the garden in the backyard kind of exploded in vegetables again on Saturday morning, so we decided to have a few folks over that evening for an impromptu dinner party. May I just say? Spaghetti Squash is SO COOL. I probably shouldn't be so amused by something as simple as a vegetable that separates into pasta-like strands, but I'd never cooked with the stuff before, and it was just awesome! We also toasted marshmallows in the fireplace and played some poker, so it was good times all around.
And, on a related note, I think I have officially perfected my Vegan Power Muffins! I have the formula written down at home, but man, it's frickin' awesome. They're not like New Odyssey's, which was my original goal, but this revision came out so well that I can't bring myself to change them any further. Woo!
Anyhoo, speaking of food, it's about time I toddled off for lunch. Hasta!
