Oy. It has certainly been a weekend, y'all.
We got an invite to Amy and Travis' place on Saturday, for Amy's birthday party, so off we went! They're such cool and friendly people that I can't help liking them. It was a freaking gorgeous day outside, and the gathering was pretty open-ended, so we were there from the early-afternoon until after the sun went down, and people were coming and going all day. There was hanging out, Wii-ing, making sushi, barbecuing, Guitar Hero, and plenty of Guinness and Irish whiskey, it being St. Paddy's and all.
I wore my army-green "America Is Scary" shirt for my obligatory green article of clothing, which is pretty good, but one of the other partygoers wore this shirt, which I think probably beats it. ;) I must have one!
On Sunday, Ben and I went to Portland and poked around various neighborhoods, to try and actually learn a bit about the city. We managed to hit pretty much every major part of town in the span of a few hours, so we did all right! We didn't see much of SW Portland, but in my experience, that's more Richie Rich territory anyway, so I doubt I'd be looking to buy or rent there anytime soon. ;p
We actually looked at a couple of houses, and one of them sticks in my mind. It was near Peninsula Park, and if you know much about Portland, then you know that the park in question was chock full of sketchy types who'd like to stick a knife in you, back in the day. Now, however? It's completely re-done, beautifully expansive and well-manicured. There were some elderly folks taking a nice, relaxing jog around the neighborhood, and things generally looked calm and friendly. It's amazing how much the area has changed in a relatively short time.
So, yeah, some things are going to start happening, if you couldn't tell. I'm not exactly sure *what* will be happening, yet, but I should have some answers in a few days.
Anyhoo, I'm feeling pretty exhausted today, but I'll get over it. Hell, I *have* to get over it, because I have competition on Saturday. Gaaaahhhh!
