So, the skateboarding pictures didn't quite work out for me on Friday. For one, the lighting was crappy, and my lens wasn't fast enough for the task when it was zoomed in. (grrrr 5.6 FTL) For another thing, I got out of wushu late, which meant that I got out to the skate park late, and by then, most of the good skaters weren't actually skating anymore. Apparently, however, the "good" skaters who were on hand that night weren't even that good, according to our source, so I might not have even missed that much anyway.
The committment ceremony on Saturday was fun to shoot. The people were nice, the food was good, and the atmosphere was lighthearted and enjoyable. I'm happy with the material I got, too. The lighting situation was a bit tougher than I originally thought it would be, but I got some good stuff, and everyone was very accomodating.
Anyhoo, here's some photo spam from Saturday, since these don't have people's faces in them. I was having way too much fun with shallow depth of field, but hey, it was 40-some-odd people in a not-very-big space, so the strategy fit well. ;)

bychoice's birthday thinger was fun, too :) Played some Munchkin and some Settlers, ate ice cream, had tea, and everything was relaxed and groovy. Good times!
We hiked around on a trail near Florence on Sunday, which turned out pretty well. We'd wanted to take some photos, but it was rainy enough that we didn't really want to take out our cameras. :p It was a fairly easy hike, but the waterfalls were pretty sweet, and the area kind of reminded us of Silver Falls.
After that, I was about ready to eat my own arm, so we ducked up to Yachats for a late lunch. Good food on the coast is kind of elusive, because a lot of the restaurants in Florence are overpriced and not that great, so that was the whole reason we went to Yachats. Of course, the place we went to in Yachats didn't have particularly great food, either, so I'm not sure the extra driving was worth it, exactly. The view was awesome, though, and the service was good, so it could've been worse. :)
Monday comes too soon, as usual, because here it is again. Sigh. I want a vacation.
