This is probably going to sound insane to at least some of you, but: I'm not doing Christmas shopping this year, and I MISS IT.
I'm basically under orders to not do any major shopping for the family this year, because I am actually trying to pay off my loans before I die. Thing is, I actually had fun doing Christmas shopping last year. Maybe it's just because I had more time, more energy, and more resources, but I enjoyed myself when I was shopping. I just wandered around the stores for a few hours, and looked for things that inspired me to buy them for a particular person.
I feel like I came up with pretty good, not-obvious choices for at least some of the people in my family, and I like it when I can find a gift like that: something they will like, but would not expect to receive or think to ask for. It's fun to be able to give.
I recently volunteered to model for
kelaar, so he can work on his portraiture and action photography. I'm pretty pumped, actually; I always thought that doing crazy photoshoots would be fun. However, I also kind of feel like I should go on a diet right-effing-now and train twice as hard as I usually do, because I don't want to look bloaty in portraits, and I don't want my wushu to look like deep-fried ass on film. ::laughs:: Well, I have until next month to quit being a worrywarty weenie, and either way, it should be fun.
This is
dakania's fault, but: oh, the hilarity of browsing matches on OKCupid! So far, I have stumbled upon: 1) J's old boss, 2) David (Ben's roommate), 3)
alfonzobean, 4) A dude from another department here at work.
And that's just straight guys within 5 miles of Eugene, after only a couple minutes of browsing. I shudder to think who else I might find, if I searched other places, or included girls. ::laughs:: So funny.
Anyway, it's Tuesday. Huzzah, or something.
