NOTE: For some reason, all of my e-mail outside of Yahoo! Mail is borked, and I keep getting "connection refused" errors when I try to check any of them. If you've sent me e-mail, please be patient or hit me up at Yahoo!, and if you know how to fix this mysterious problem, tell me!

If somebody can tell me why I chose to stay awake for 21 hours straight today, after getting between 5 and 6 hours of sleep the night before, I would very much like to know. ;p But, I suspect this post will explain that for us all.

Anyway, by some act of God or Yog or whoever the humble reader chooses, I got up at 5:20am this morning (Saturday), to go on the rafting trip. I was so freakin' tired, and I got out of the house late, so I didn't even have time to stop at Dutch Bros for a coffee. I reeeeally wanted to. And then, we couldn't leave because we were waiting on one of the other rafters, who didn't show up until 20 minutes after I did. I totally could have had that coffee! Sigh.

The rafting trip itself? Way fun. I suspect that I should have gone in the smaller boat, because the trip in the bigger boat was far tamer than I was expecting. For those who have rafted more than I have, we apparently didn't do anything above a category 3, and we were in an 8-person raft, so I guess it was designed to be fairly tame. I was expecting to get the bejeebus jolted out of me, though, and I mostly just got my butt wet. It was still great fun, though. I think my only complaint was that it was really freakin' cold the whole day.

The one thing of note from my experience was going over the last bit of rapids. They were the biggest that we did, and I took an awesome one right in the face! ::rotfl:: It soaked me from head to toe and nearly knocked me over sideways, but it was fun and not at all terrifying. We did have friends serving as very competent guides, and my life vest was strapped on like a freaking corset, so I guess that was enough to make me feel reasonably safe. That same rapid knocked one of our intrepid adventurers out of the smaller boat, and she swallowed some water, but they ultimately pulled her in without too much trouble. Phew. :) Overall, A+!

I had the most wonderful cup of Earl Grey when I got home--nothing like warming up from the inside--and I curled up on the couch with Gizmo and watched Battlestar Galactica. Once I warmed up my tootsies the rest of the way, I wound up going to a progressive dinner with [livejournal.com profile] bookid, which was organized by her fellow churchpeople. Apparently, the whole thing of a progressive dinner is that different courses are hosted at different people's houses, and you all migrate from one place to the next to work your way through the meal. The food was good and the people were nice, although it was mainly elderly folks and mothers; apparently all the guys were at the UO/USC football game. :)

Anyhoo, I came back just in time to talk to J for a bit, and then I went to yet another weekly party. It was kind of mellow, because probably 2/3rds of us were completely pooped from rafting and/or waking up so early, but we did run around in the park for a bit, and had some good times.

And, that brings us up to now. Tomorrow, I have to do a few things around the house, finish my concept art, and do a BRD run! Gah, so busy, but I kind of like it right now. I should probably cram it all in while I still have all this energy.
