Hooray! I'm finally getting a decent number of work hours again! This makes me happy. :)

My darling [livejournal.com profile] pyrobaby was placed in Kansai! Once I got past the "HOORAY ALYSON WHEEEE" reaction, it started me thinking about taking my own trip to Japan. There are probably other long-term things that I should be saving up for, but I have dreamed of at least visiting Japan for years, and it seems that this phase of my life, when the parameters of my adult life hasn't been set in stone yet, would be the best time for such an expedition. Maybe I'm wrong, but it would be amazing to go.

I want this t-shirt. :D I also need some new wushu shoes, because my cheapo Keds knock-offs are near death. I'm thinking it's time for some Feiyues, since it seems I'll be doing wushu for at least as long as I'm in Eugene.

And now, pointless meme time! Put away your cancer sticks, kids!: Meme! )

That brings to mind my little rant about my objection to people who smoke. As you who have been reading this probably know, I am pretty laissez-faire on most lifestyle choices that people make. If you want to participate in a same-sex relationship, go for it. If you want to go to church, or *not* go to church, that's up to you as well. If you want to get embarassingly drunk every night, or fry your brain on drugs, well, I won't consider it an intelligent choice, but I'm not going to stop you from doing it.

There are really only two instances when I will always object to another person's personal lifestyle choice:
1) when a personal choice is made by one of my friends or loved ones, and they are clearly endangering or damaging themselves by making said choice. (because I know and care about them, it's more my place to intervene than it is with a total stranger) and
2) when said choice affects another person's body, mind, or environment in a negative way.

Now, a lot of smokers fall under #2, because they're polluting the immediate environment of those around them, and they don't even ask if anyone minds them smoking. If smokers asked me whether or not was okay to smoke around me, then I'd really have nothing to complain about. Generally, however, they seem to have no qualms about forcing me and everyone else around them to inhale their secondhand smoke. And, seeing as I tend to feel queasy and ill when I'm around too much smoke for too long, that is definitely a negative affect on my person.

Anyhoo, enough complaining! Most of the smokers that I've known personaly have been very considerate about it, so I'm at least somewhat lucky, that way.

And, I'm off like a dirty shirt!

Anybody want to go see Sleater Kinney at the McDonald tomorrow night?? If so, IM me! I'm not sure if any of my Oregon people are into it, but I thought I'd ask. :)

So hey, can anyone recommend a good book to read? I'm sure I've asked this before, but I'm asking again, because I don't feel like looking for that post.

That reminds me of something I've wanted on LJ for a while now--the ability to search through all of your journal entries for certain keywords. There has been more than one insance when I've thought "hey, I wrote a prior post about that! I should link to it!" or "I can't remember what anyone said when I posted that question!" But, even when you eliminate the lame one-liner posts from 1999 and 2/3rds of 2000, I have a good 4 years' worth of posts to sift through, and that's really not worth the time.

Anyhoo, it sounds like Phil and Keith are flaking on practice tonight, so I am, too. I really want to learn new material, but if nobody's there to teach it to me... :( I'll probably train by myself after work or something, if I get back early enough, but right now I need to take care of other things, including the giant mess that exploded in my kitchen.
