batskeets: (yan!)
Gah, I've barely been on the computer all day. Yes, I know you're dying of shock right now. ;p

Anyway, today was pretty okay. Class was not too taxing, which is nice, and I spent a lot of the afternoon knitting and watching the terebi. Believe it or not, I'm actually getting a little burnt out on video games! Weird, considering I haven't really played them much except for the few days over Thanksgiving break. Maybe I just need a new game to play. Or maybe I just need to wait until exams are over.

I finally made it to Wushu today, after missing last Monday and this Monday. I was a little off my game at first, but it got better by the end, although I'm pretty exhausted now. I definitely need to train regularly over break, because I can tell that I'm getting better, and laying off for 3 weeks would probably put me back at square one. Plus, it's a terribly fun form of exercise for me, so it beats the hell out of getting on an exercise bike five days a week.

Speaking of which, Note To Self: Coordinator's meeting. 4pm. Walnut Room.

I just made a pretty good steak. It's not quite as magical as steak made by James, though. I don't think I'll ever entirely figure out what he does to make me like steak so much.

Tomorrow, I go to class, play DDR and write on my break, and then I come home and start working on some more flash cards to prepare for my final. Oh, and pick up my sewing machine, hopefully. And pick up my paycheck from the last of my internship work. And *maybe* work on writing that Perl script, if I have time.

Okay, I'm off.
So I was just looking for one of those cute electronic Japanese-English dictionaries, and I just found a J/E dictionary that I can load into PalmOS! It's ~$25 to buy the license, so I'll try it first, but I'll wager it's a lot cheaper than buying a separate unit.

Anyway, we presented our project and everything seemed to work fine, so that was cool. There were some really cool projects, so I feel kind of lame that I didn't do more. We did concentrate more on the physical appearance of our components, though, which other folks didn't seem to, so we have that, at least. :) I still wish I could have made plastic casings instead of that paper card boxes! ;p

I've been sitting here looking at random crap on the computer for an hour or so. Wheee. Speaking of which, a Fark Photoshop contest: Superhero Day Jobs. As always, some of them are badly Photoshopped, but terribly funny.

Anyway, I have another 3.5 hours to kill until my next class, so I think I'm out of here.
Ow. Headache of the century. Temptation to go home early and cop out on nihongo rising...

So, grr. I was having a pretty good DDR day today, so I tried Paranoia Evo on Heavy, which I've been kind of working on passing for a while, and you know what? I failed it on THE SECOND-TO-LAST STEP. Argh!! I was so close, yet too tired after several games to try it again. And my ankle feels a bit out-of-whack now, so I'm not sure I want to tempt fate by playing through it again.

I saw an ad posted up in Lawrence for a place that I should apply to, located in Springfield--looks like they need web designers, and they don't even require Flash knowledge! Just good design and strong coding skills, with ASP and MySQL a plus. That's the kind of thing I like to do most, so I'd love a job like that. Also, they have no political or religious agenda, and their web design philosophy seems to actually agree with mine (i.e. none of that "form over function" junk), so I definitely need to give it a go! Whee!

Tonight, I think I will work more on redoing my web site and portfolio. I think I want to do something with Mokuzen like [livejournal.com profile] evilbluefairy and [livejournal.com profile] aniline, with the personal/professional split. I'm reluctant to take down all my old stuff, because some of it is still pretty worthy and gets regular traffic, but I should probably place more emphasis on the work that might actually get me hired somewhere.

Tonight is Survivor and CSI! I'm thinking that Christa may be taking the walk of shame, but my heart hopes that Jon goes away. That little piss ant is just too scummy to live.

P.S. Somebody needs to turn down the heater in this computer lab. I'm roasting in here, and I'm wearing a t-shirt and jeans, for pity's sake.
