Well, last time, it was a CD database. But today? It's designing a logo, letterhead, and envelopes for my pseudo-company.

I wish I was better at writing kanji, though, because it would have been awesome for me to do my own calligraphy for the kanji in the background. My handwriting's ugly in every language, it seems. ;pppppp

I had a nerdy moment of glee when I looked up "mokuzen" on my favoured online J-E dictionary--it turns out that I already know all the kanji required to write it! 目 for moku (eye) and 前 for zen (in front of). I didn't know any kanji at all when I first picked out the name back in summer 1999, so this completely rocks my corner of the universe. Me = DORK.

Oh, and if you hadn't guessed from the gratuitous scans, I finally got the scanner that I've desperately needed for so long! It's a Canon LiDE 20, so it's not the newest and coolest, but it still has that sleek and sexy design that I've been drooling over for, say, a YEAR or two now, and enough functionality for my purposes. And it was super-cheap! Gwaaaaa. :D

Oh yeah, I was going to go to bed early tonight. Whoops. ::alshfhaslhdfaslkdfhakl::
I did a psych experiment today, $10 in my pocket. Hoo! I have work at the Comet tonight, so more money in my pocket there, too... just, y'know, not today.

Speaking of DDS, the first of many new people has been hired to work for us. This means that we now have James, Jenny, Joel, Josiah, Joy, and now this new guy, Jacob. What's with all the "J" names, people?! I already have to differentiate between Jameses, for chrissake!

I'm starting to get really neurotic about some of my freelance projects. I find that I'm second-guessing myself a lot, and I really shouldn't. It could just be an overall sense of burnout, though. I really need a vacation. And by vacation, I mean a vacation that *doesn't* involve me spending an entire week in my room playing NWN or Warcraft III or whatever computer game I can get my grubby paws on.

Uh, yeah. That's all I can think of right now, because I'm super-tired.

Oh yeah

Two random and potentially annoying language habits I have recently picked up:

1) After greeting someone, saying "what's cooking?" instead of "how are you?" or "what's up?" Why am I doing this? Unless I'm greeting someone in a kitchen, that doesn't even entirely make sense! ::asdlfkhsdlfkhasf::

2a) Using "paco" as a term of endearment, i.e. "Hey, paco!" instead of "Hey, buddy!", and
2b) Using "paco" as a substitute for more vulgar, derogatory names for random idiots, i.e. "Try using your goddamned blinker, paco!" versus "Try using your goddamned blinker, asshole!" I blame both of these on James, for his gratuitous use of "Paco" both inside and outside of his role-playing adventures.

Hopefully, these are like many of my other verbal fixations, and will soon fade away in favour of a different slang term. Jeez.

Okay, time to go running. My legs may hate me later today, but they'll thank me two weeks from now.
