We had fun playing Diplomacy tonight! We even had some people I hadn't previously interacted with along tonight, and that was very cool. I badgered one of them (Scott) into running a GURPS game at Gamex. ::rotfl:: And the other (Wyatt) made himself a makeshift drink cup out of duct tape when the pizza guy forgot to bring cups with our 2-liters of soda. Oh, the hours of amusement.
I was *very* pleased with my performance this game, especially after doing so dismally the first time I played it, so many months ago. I was consistently one of the most powerful forces on the board, and I eventually claimed Allied Victory with (Steely) Dan when we each had 10 supply centers. We could have done it sooner, but those of us who were still playing at that point wanted to run through a couple more rounds. I think all my obsessing over Survivor tactics and running numbers in my head as of late has both made me a better tactician (in that I manage to figure out and account for all possible outcomes), and given the the ability to forgo the Honest-Til-I-Die pact in the context of a game. I still don't like lying and breaking pacts, but at least now I don't go away feeling like it's a personal affront to them if I do it a few times during a silly board game.
It is time to go to bed. Tomorrow is a bright, shiny, and totally unplanned day! :D
