Failing at relaxing
Mar. 11th, 2012 12:45 pmI'm attempting to give myself some time off, before I haul myself over to endurance practice. So far? Not doing so hot. Daylight savings stealing an hour from my day certainly didn't help, either. How is it almost 1pm already?!
Yesterday wasn't bad, though--I skated at practice, and then again at a travel team bootcamp about speedskating and pick-up speed. I was feeling sort of mopey after a sort-of sloppy performance during practice, so I almost didn't go to the bootcamp, but I talked myself into it, and it turned out pretty great. We got a lot of one-on-one attention due to low attendance--there wound up being a travel team skater for each of us who did the bootcamp--and I picked up some hot tips for my skating form AND also did some honest-to-god backwards crossovers, which I'd never done before. Woo!
I also somewhat-spontaneously got together with a few folks later in the evening, and we just wound up hanging out at a bar around the corner, and then kicking it and playing some Rock Band. It seems like such a rare thing in my life to just get together and hang out with people, without it being scheduled way in advance, and/or centered around a specific event. I'd like to do more of that. :)
Anyhoo, I'm going to go play some video games now, because I never get to do that anymore, either.
Oh, and here's a pretty photo I took. I met this lady through the local shopping guide I shot for, and she helped coordinate a shoot I did with one of my clients, so she pulled me aside during that to grab a headshot of her. So yes, I got this in, oh, less than a minute. I has the magics. The abundance of lovely natural light certainly helped, though. ;)
