Just when I thought I was finally getting caught up, and feeling like I could really relax, de-stress, and just take good care of ME for a bit... my laptop hard drive decided to crap out last night.

In the MIDDLE of my first Mozy backup.

Of course, since it didn't complete the backup, I lost the last couple weeks' worth of work. I'm not going to lie, I am pretty freaked out and depressed over this. And I am NOT looking forward to re-doing all of this work.

On the plus side, I'd just finished moving all of my China pictures off of the laptop and onto the photo server--which backs up in two separate locations--yesterday morning, so those are all safe.

I would also like to give thanks to Dropbox, because I used that to sync a good chunk of web work to my computer at The Job. So, my recent work on that is also safe.

Otherwise? January is SO. FIRED.

I need some positivity. ;_;

Ummmm... I love you! :) And maybe we can take more yoga and/or tai chi classes together, and we can get to see each other more often.

I'd love that :) I'll definitely let you know how things shake out with the TaiChi thing. Where have you been doing yoga?

I have been doing yoga where I work, which is free for me but would be a pain in the ass for you. The new work location also has yoga classes, which I'm stoked about, but they had tai chi and meditation classes that got cancelled. Sadface.

Anyway, yah. Once you decide if you're going to take that other class, let me know. :)

*hugs*

Sorry to hear about the data loss.

Adventure Time always cheers me up:

Fuck, that suuuuuuuuuuucks. I'm so sorry. I'm fresh out of positivity myself, so the best I can offer is an e-hug. *hug*

have you tried freezing your HD to see if it'll spin one last time so you can get your data? it'll definitely be toast after you do, but if it already is...

I might be able to get your data off your drive...there's a chance, albeit slim.

Everyone forgets that I used to work in E-Data recovery...

;)

I might entail me yanking it out of your lappy and playing with it a bit, but, I might be able to.

HOW did it die? Did you get the blue screen of death, was it clicking...? What happened?

Well, it's a Mac, so no BSOD. ;) I couldn't tell you what happened, exactly; I was cooking at the time, so I went into the kitchen for a minute or two to work on the food, and when I came back to the lappy to check the recipe? The screen was black and wouldn't respond to keystrokes or anything.

Then I tried rebooting it a couple times, and got the folder-with-question-mark icon, which means it can't "find" the drive.

I didn't hear any clicks; Boy took a look at it (he used to work doing lots of Mac hardware repair) and he said it seemed like it wasn't even trying to spin up.

It sounds pretty grim to me, but if you think you can do something with it, I'd be SO freakin' grateful. :D
