Burnin' hot deliciousness
Oct. 13th, 2009 02:11 pmI have a belt test today! Or, to put it more accurately--seeing as they always pass the people they've asked to test--I have a belt promotion today. It'll be red with a gold stripe this time, and today is all about scary Nandao form. Next is brown belt, and I believe I'm learning Nangun (southern staff) next, so soon I'll actually have a long weapon form that I wouldn't be ashamed to perform in advanced division. Woo!
The November tournament is sounding more and more tempting, now that I'll be officially "done" with Nandao and could conceivably try it out on the competition floor. I don't think I want to go unless the UW and/or UO folks decide to go, though. Competitions are just more fun when you're making the journey with people who are as nuts about the sport as you are.
In other news, Nathan recently challenged Boy to horf down something really spicy, so last night was the culmination of that challenge. Nathan's idea was the El Jefe wings at Fire On The Mountain, so we rolled in there yesterday and ordered up a basket of six.
He ate them at a moderate pace, and oh, he was overconfident at first. We saw tears after the 3rd wing, and he was really sweating it by the 5th and 6th ones, but he made it through, and didn't eat any of the celery or blue cheese dressing that came with them, either. The guy who cleared away the empty basket seemed at least vaguely impressed, heh.
Now, we just have to figure out something even worse! Boy has apparently eaten hot peppers straight-up before, so he certainly has a tolerance...
