Holy hell, do I suck at biking!
Back when I first moved up here 2 years ago, and started at The Job, I used to bike to work 5 days a week. I had to take on a pretty gnarly hill on the ride home, too. (those of you in NoPo probably know what I mean when I say, "Interstate Avenue") All in all, it was about a half-hour and 5-or-so miles, each way. I didn't realize it back then, but I got pretty decent at biking.
But, then the fall/winter rains started, and I sort of fell off the wagon, because I had no bad-weather gear. I biked sporadically the following spring/summer, but definitely not consistently, partly because I was working my ass off during the summer, and sitting on the MAX sounded SO much nicer than huffing it up that stupid hill. And, after moving house, shooting tons of weddings, and damn near losing my mind last August, I didn't know a good route from my current house, and the weather was starting to turn again, which seemed enough excuse to give it up entirely.
After biking to/from work yesterday? Oh, I realize now exactly how much better I was at biking back then. I SUCK SO BAD NOW. XD My quads burned like fire yesterday! But I guess that's kind of a good thing... if the biking were too easy, it wouldn't be much of a substitute for running, would it?
Definitely need to hit the biking trails more often. I guess it's hard, because I'm lame and don't generally want to do more cardio on a day when I already have wushu practice, so that rules out Tue/Fri/Sat. And Wed/Sun are my recovery days, so I generally keep those more relaxed and groovy, too.
I guess that leaves Monday/Thursday. Damn my wimpy legs. But, I could potentially be persuaded on a rest day...
