I got invited to dinner yesterday by my corset-making designer friend, and we talked about having her make me some new silks. Yeeeee! I'm keeping the same pants, so they'll be like these, except with a new top, reversing the color scheme to pink w/black trim, instead of black w/pink trim. The top on the old set was also really big, so the new one will be adjusted to fit me, and the sash will be a more structured belt. AND, I'm also going full-out nanquan-stylie and doing a sleeveless top.

I am ridonkulously excited about this, and I cannot WAIT for her to get done with them!! I'm feeling really good about focusing on Southern style, too. I miss working on my long fist form, but honestly, doing a new one this year would've driven me insane, especially with how much sick time I've had this winter. I'm definitely enjoying the no-pressure approach.

Speaking of which, I got back into the gym yesterday, AT LAST. I'd meant to do that much sooner. I'm definitely taking it slow for now, so I'm starting with just 1x/week at the gym, and then my usual wushu practices, and maybe some WiiFit on off days, if I feel like it. Maybe I'll ramp up to 2x/week in another week or two, if I'm still feeling good and energetic.

Primary focuses:
--High-intensity intervals - good for fat burning, and it'll get me used to breathing hard and pushing through high-intensity bursts... which I'll *definitely* need for my competition forms.
--Core training - because I can't ever get enough of this. It's important for *everything*.

I'll also be working a bit on:
--Quads - to help mitigate my knee problems. I haven't had them as of late, but they could come back.
--Calves/Shins - for ankle support, to hopefully mitigate any further achilles tendon issues.
--Delts - since I'm wearing sleeveless silks this year, I want to have badass-looking shoulders. Yes, this is 100% vain. XD

One thing I am definitely NOT doing, however, is dieting. I'm actually feeling like I'm on a pretty even keel, as far as food is concerned, and I think I'm doing myself a favor by NOT thinking about it, and, by extension, not stressing out about it. WiiFit has been dutifully helping me keep track of my workouts and stats, and my weight *has* been slowly creeping downward since we acquired the thing. Granted, it's only been maybe a half-pound a week, on average, but my holiday weight gain is gone. I'm comfortable with taking that as a sign that I have things under perfectly acceptable control. And, now that I'm back in the gym, I may start getting even better results. :)

And hell, even if I get to competition and am still the "fat," slow competitor in my division, I'll totally have the best Nanquan yell, haha! We got to the yelling part of the form at practice on Friday, and most of the group felt stupid about doing the yell. I think everyone feels goofy about it when they first start, because I certainly did. Of course, now I love doing it and striking fear into the hearts of smart-ass children with my scary nanquan face.

Anyhoo, we did that section as a group, and then we yelled together at the end of the section, and I was by far the loudest. Then, everyone in the group turned to stare at me, and one kid was all, "okay, just have HER do the yell." XD

OK, I'll shut up about wushu now. Hurhurhur.
