I'm probably misquoting the above, but seriously, Evil Mayonnaise. Q&A sessions can be so amusing.
So yes, REPO! The Genetic Opera! It took me a few minutes to really get into it, but it was awesome. Then again: Stylized, Campy Horror + Copious Amounts of Singing + Anthony Stewart Head = WIN. Jeez, how could it not?
Other random tidbits and musings:
--I really love going to fanbase-driven screenings like this one. Being in the audience with the most hardcore fans and feeling *so* much enthusiasm and positive energy, it's easy to get swept up into it.
--I was surprised to learn that *all* of the actors sang their parts completely. I thought for certain that Paul Sorvino was dubbed, because the singing was too good. Who knew he could sing like that?
--And speaking of "who knew?" factoids: Sarah Brightman apparently has gothy tendencies that extend outside of this role. That's kind of awesome.
--Paris Hilton was surprisingly (gulp) good. At the very least, she wasn't distracting. And, well, even if you hate her beyond all redemption, what happens to her towards the end will amuse you anyway. ;)
--I had no idea who Ogre was before this movie, even though I'd heard of Skinny Puppy quite a few years ago. Whoops. ;p
--Terrance Zdunich is too, too cute. EVIL MAYONNAISE.
My only complaint? The sound system at the theater was balls, and I felt like I missed a lot of details because the mushy sound made the words so difficult to understand. Still, endless props to them for showing the film, because we packed that theater full.
I heart days off from work. I had thoughts for what else I could do today, though, and surprise! It's almost 2:30 and I've done basically nothing. Of course, sleeping until 11am was probably a contributor to that. ;)
