I went to wushu yesterday, and at the end of class, they said something about tryouts for the demo team this coming Friday. (yeah, they're not so good with the advance notice ;p) I've heard various things about it, ranging from "you can just ask to be on the demo team," to, "you have to pay extra if you're on the demo team." The up side would be extra practice and opportunity to learn what I want, but if I have to pay extra? Meh, no thank you.
Of course, I'll try out, because although I'm not the best in the whole school, I have a lot more going for me than quite a few people on the current demo team. And, if I actually have more practice time, I'll improve even more. I work hard in class, I learn quickly, and I'm serious about improving my skills (unlike many of the "weekend warrior" types that go there), so I can make a good argument for it. :)
In other news, I'm finally starting to catch up on my photo backlog... these are from a Nerd shoot that I did before I even went to Maryland. (whoof)

The special effects makeup looks great (note the reddish scrape/bruise marks in the shape of the glasses frames!) and the shots came out pretty well, but these don't quite have the silly tone that others in the series had. I've basically been asking for, "comically sad," and I think this girl nailed the Sad, but missed the Comical. This *was* one of the less absurd concepts in the series, though, so the other models had that advantage.
Anyhoo, hopefully I'll work with enough models up here than I can pick someone, and know what to expect from them as far as posing ability, facial expressions, etc. Any crazy ideas I have in the future will just rock that much more. ;)
