Blood and guts!
Aug. 17th, 2007 11:41 amI had a shoot scheduled last night with a makeup artist, and OMG. Best. Shoot. EVAR.
Why? Well, the makeup artist brought in three models, and then decked them out in Special Effects Makeup! Blood and flesh wounds and all kinds of fun stuff... we did some simpler shots in the studio to better show the makeup effects, and then we did shots with more of a storytelling feel. It was total kick-in-the-pants fun.
I have to say, photographing things like track marks, gunshots, and stab wounds was definitely new territory for all parties involved. I think that every one of us, at some point, said something to the effect of, "I'm not sure how to pose this, I've never beat somebody up before!" I think we sold it, though, in the end, and the shots look awesome!
Anyhoo, here are a few that didn't need Photoshop help. If you're sensitive about blood, drugs, violence, and/or domestic abuse, then, uhhhhh, you may not want to look at these.

And proof that it's all makeup:
I really loved the storytelling aspect of the shooting, and it was a great chance to work with the studio lighting, *and* also use some very fitting locations in the industrial-ish neighborhood near our studio. Soooo fun.
Anyhoo, tonight we're seeing a Led Zeppelin tribute band at the Crystal Ballroom, which is one of my favorite venues around here! Of course, the only other ones I've been to up here are the Rose Quarter and some other one that I can't remember the name of, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. ;p Either way, the tunes should be awesome.
Time for lunch! Until next time, kiddies.

The makeup artist "kills" one of our models.
Yes, our models survived this ordeal ;)
