There I go getting political again
Aug. 1st, 2007 10:59 amAs nutty as it may sound, I am seriously considering registering Republican. XD
The reason for doing that, of course, would be in order to vote for Ron Paul in the primary! I was thinking about it before, since I'd have to update my voter registration now that I've moved to a different county. But, my dad brought it up again in a recent e-mail, so here I am thinking about it again.
Part of me feels like I should just stay Democrat, and try to stop the Hillary train and get the best candidate through on that side of things, but in an ideal world, I should be able to support the candidate I like, and things will turn out well. That's how it *should* work, right? People shouldn't have to plan a strategy about how to vote. It's hard enough getting people to vote in the first place. :p
The thing that struck me recent me about Ron Paul is the kind of support that he's getting. When I was driving around near Eugene this past weekend, I saw Ron Paul signs posted on the highway near the UO, which is, of course, a pretty liberal place. And then, driving out off the beaten track towards Elkton, in areas where I've previously seen frighteningly ultra-conservative religious signage, there were... more Ron Paul signs?!
And none of these were "official" campaign signs, either; they were all different, and clearly hand-painted, likely made by supporters who simply felt motivated to get the word out.
It's my feeling that he's almost doing the opposite of what Bush did. Bush has inspired people to either love him, or hate him with a passion, and widened the gap between the two parties. Ron Paul seems to be bringing together both parties, even on the more extreme ends. If you can bring the parties together, then maybe they'll actually work together and get some things done.
In other news, I biffed on over to Beaverton yesterday after work, to see about getting into a focus group for testing full-figured bras. A couple of the groups would be testing sports bras, and they intend to pay well for it. I don't know what criteria they're using to pick people, but I've done enough sports and worn enough bad sports bras that I can definitely tell them what's right and wrong with theirs, so maybe I can get some easy dolla' bills. ;p Hooray for b00bs!
Anyhoo, I am feeling much better today, after getting some fresh air and exercise and a bit of R&R. Ben helped out hugely just by making dinner the past two nights, so I didn't have to worry about it. I even got some freelance stuff done while I was sitting around at the focus group casting yesterday, so I think I'm getting towards feeling less overwhelmed.
Oh yeah, and I get a massage this afternoon! Some local place comes in twice a month and offers chair massages, so I figured getting rid of some tension would do me good. The Job does have occasional little perks. :)
And, I'm off.
