Wacky fashion and Wii conquests
Jul. 23rd, 2007 12:06 pmSooo, yeah, I hope nobody came by the studio yesterday for the party. ^^; If you missed the memo about it being postponed, I'm really sorry!
Anyhoo, the runway show shoot went all right. I definitely learned some things to take with me, going forward, and I even got some photos that I'm happy with. There were also some pretty darned famous (and *really* gorgeous) plus-size models flown in from all over the country... impressive stuff! Things go by pretty fast in these events, and there were like 7 photographers and two videographers sandwiched in at the end of the runway, so it was a tough proposition just fitting myself in there.
For the first show, I got a crappy spot at the end of the runway with some random guy's head blocking half of my shots--and that's not to mention the part where he got up and stood in the middle of the runway WHILE THE SHOW WAS STILL GOING just to blab at some buddy of his--and some other photograher's gigantic diffuser attachment blocking the other half, so I didn't get much that I was happy with.
I *loved* the look of the photos from the second show, though; the downstairs setting was a lot more visually appealing, and the lighting was good enough that I didn't need my flash. I also got a better shooting position for the third show, so some of those turned out all right, even though it was in the more bland upstairs setting.

On Saturday, I did two wushu classes and ran myself ragged, but it was worth it. :D We also went to Wong's King for lunch, and I must admit it's probably the best Chinese food I've had in the state of Oregon. Big A+ to everyone who recommended it!
After that, we went to WalMart to pick up a couple of things, and it ballooned into an afternoon quest for a Wii... and lo, we actually found one!! The WalMart was out, so we called another WalMart and a K-Mart, and they were both out of them... we stopped at a GameStop in SE at random, and *they* didn't have any, either, but they told us that the GameStop in Clackamas had some as of 20 minutes ago, so we booked it down there and claimed our prize!
We'd played WiiSports a bunch at other people's houses, so we decided to get Resident Evil 4, which is pretty fun, too, even though I have no FPS skills. I seem to be less dismal at it than other FPS games, so far. ;)
Yesterday was a crappy day, as you probably guessed from the cancelled party... maybe I'll go into it on a Friends-Only. But, I did have some fun doing a shoot in the early afternoon; we went out to Sauvie Island and the photographer shot using a pinhole camera, and also using what I think was a medium-format film camera. And man, if you think looking good on film is easy, try holding a pose completely still for 30 seconds! Apparently, he's had people holding poses for up to 15 minutes with that pinhole camera! I'm curious to see how they turn out.
In other "news," argh, I hate the media: Lies and more lies about Ron Paul. You know they do this sort of thing to the Democrats, too, so there's plenty to get cheesed off about.
That's all!
