In which the world really freaks me out
Jun. 29th, 2007 09:54 amOkay, this is just creepy: Catholic church comments that the human mothers of inter-species babies should be allowed to raise the child if they wish.
Yes, you read that right. Inter-SPECIES. Apparently, you'll burn in hell for having gay butt sex, but hybrid animal-human babies? They get a pass!
That's just... so... aaagh, WHAT THE CRAP?! I'm sending the Catholic church the bill for the brain aneurysm they just caused me to have. Jesus.
I also have to admit, the weather is kind of freaking me out, too. It has been (relatively) cold and rainy, especially for June. Yeah, I know, this is the Northwest, but I've been living here long enough to know what it's usually like, and it seems like it's changed.
And you know what that means: Climate Change = Global Warming = If We Don't Stop It, We Are Screwed.
Maybe it's easy for crusty old politicians to ignore environmental issues, but unlike them, I will likely be very much alive by 2050, and I would really like to *not* experience the destruction of the human race via catastrophic global climate change, thanks. :p
Speaking of global warming, Al Gore is SO running for president. He is biding his time and building momentum, but I'm convinced that he's going to make the announcement any day now. Everyone on the Democrats' side seems to be playing hard, so I'm sure he'll be no exception.
Anyhoo, I have a meeting soon, so away with me!

Date: 2007-06-29 06:04 pm (UTC)the first ladyuh, I mean Bill, to stay out of the race as long as Hill is in.Too bad, though. He'd be a really good president. I would vote him in for a second term. For now, though, I'm pulling for Obama, because while the US needs a woman president, they need it to NOT be Hillary, and Obama pretty much rocks.
/political rant.

Date: 2007-06-29 07:52 pm (UTC)Actually, it's just because they're talking about embryos. I'll bet you money that if said embryos were ever carried to term - Heaven forbid! - these same bishops would be right there with pitchforks and torches chanting; "Kill the beast!"
It baffles me how the clergy can be so obsessed with the rights of embryos and so utterly unconcerned with real issues like over-population and environmental destruction that threaten to kill billions of actual people who've already been born!
