It may be too late to pimp this effectively, but: Andy is doing his stand-up routine for the first time ever (!) at The Strand's (aka Cosmic Pizza) Open Mic Night! Not sure when he'll get his turn, but open mic starts at 7pm tonight, so come check it out if you're feeling the ol' cabin fever.

Watching The Departed the other day reminded me that Dropkick Murphys is awesome. Because they're on the soundtrack! :D That little punk rock chick hopping around in my head can't get enough of that stuff.

As far as irish-y punk bands go, I've always liked Flogging Molly, but I tend to like Dropkick Murphys a touch better. Flogging Molly seems to be more widely recognized/adored, though, perhaps because they're better-known. I like Flogging Molly just fine, though, and there's enough bad music in the world that we need some good to counteract it, so there's plenty of room for them both. :)

I am still tired, and I need allergy meds. What a surprise. ;p

I don't know how hugely you are into the Irish punk (I am partly because that's what Joel's band was and it meshed so well with my own punk youth), but the Scallywag Podcast (http://www.thescallywagshow.libsyn.com/) does a good job of showcasing smaller bands (plus the guy who does it is based in Portland). Not all the bands he plays are good, but I usually feel compelled to buy at least one CD per podcast. If you'd ever like a CD of music from that genre, I'll be happy to burn one for you.

Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly! That's my girl! You should also check out Dandy Warhols. They're my poison right now. I was THIS close to going to see Dropkick few months back but stupid work ruined that. Oh well next time.
