POLL: I've been crunching some numbers and all of that rot, and realizing that, hey, maybe I can afford to take a few days off, and go on a real vacation. And, of course, the words that ring out in my head are: ROAD TRIP!

So, that's where y'all come in! Tell me what's cool in your area! Why should I come down to your neck of the woods? "Because *I'm* here!" will only work for a very, very small sub-set of you, so get creative and think about cool stuff that I might like to see. Those who give good arguments may be rewarded with a visit from Yours Truly. Well, assuming you'd consider that a reward. ::rotfl::

After seeing [livejournal.com profile] alfonzobean's announcement, and realizing that I have a photoshoot in Vancouver earlier that same day and will already be in the Portland area, I'm seriously considering going to see the Information Society Reunion Show. Woo hoo hoo! I ought to try and BitTorrent some more of their songs before that date rolls around, though.

I can feel my body becoming weak and flabby from the lack of wushu in my life. I tried to train by myself last week, but the foot slaps on inside and outside crescent kicks made my ankle hurt, so... I dunno, maybe if I don't do slaps. Argh. I hate injuries! I guess I get to keep doing the running and weight training thing, in the meantime, and hope that it holds until I can wushu decently again. Rrrgh.

I did have an excellent 3-mile run and a lifting session yesterday, though. That counts for something, right? ^^;

In conclusion: OH MY GOD ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME?!

Columbia has a couple of trendy bars, probably as trendy as those in Eugene.

That's not what's cool to do around here.

There are lots of pretty parks around here for hiking and such. Also, Charleston isn't too far away, and they have lots of neato historical stuff. ^_^

Well, since you ask...

We have a giant hole in the ground. I think it's overrated, but it is a huge freaking hole, and it's famous. There's some other weirdo desert scenery kind of in the same region.

You could stand on the corner in Winslow, thereby living the Eagles song.

I happen to like Oak Creek for its rocky terrain and extreme red rock/pine tree contrasts, although you can probably get similar views somewhere around the CA/OR border.

I don't think I'm on your list of people who qualify as destinations, so that's all I've got. ;p

This weekend

If you are up in Portland the weekend of the 15th you should stop by Fort Vancouver and visit me at the Field School! We are digging at the Fort Vancouver site.

TMNT in 2007!? Whoa, where did that come from?

Please don't hurt my childhood, please don't hurt my childhood, please don't...

Hmm...we have

the Indianapolis Museum of Art, which apparently has a large collection of Japanese art
the Claddagh, a sorta Midwest Irish pub chain, but they have Strongbow on tap!
the Rathskeller, a decidedly not chain German restaurant, with lots of German beer on tap, including Weihenstephaner
Duckpin bowling!
and me :)
