I escaped from work around 11pm on Saturday, so I managed to rack up some overtime, even after not working on Monday because I was still on the road back from CA. Score! I didn't quite manage to do sweet, sweet nothing yesterday, but I didn't have to do very much, so it could have been worse.

I made some headway on FFX yesterday, but in an astoundingly dumb moment, I thoroughly trounced Seymour on my third try, and then went to the next section and got my ass handed right back to me by some weird block-ish thing that cast "Pharaoh's Curse" at me. A lot. See, I expected there to be a save point shortly after the Seymour battle, so it didn't occur to me to GO BACKWARDS and use the save point I'd used immediately before fighting Seymour. -_-; So, I guess I have to go kill him AGAIN next time I play, but I don't WANT to, because I was reading the manual for FFX-2 and I reeeally want to play it! Sigh. Seymour is such a pain in the butt. ;p

On Fandom: Movie Trailers. A phenomenon that I *really* don't understand is the fan obsession with trailers for anticipated movies. I do like to see good trailers before the movies I see, and I like the excitement of seeing a trailer for a movie I've been looking forward to, especially when I wasn't expecting there to be one.

Every so often, though, I'll see something on a forum or an LJ community like this, where they ask if a trailer will be shown before a movie that they wouldn't otherwise watch, because, "I'm not paying to see that crappy movie unless the ______ trailer will be there!" To which I say, WHAAAAAAT?!

Now, I'm not going to claim that I've never sat through a disappointing or just-plain-Bad film before. I mean, I sat through Alexander, for pity's sake, knowing full well that it was universally reviled by the critics. I've been known to watch a movie I wouldn't choose myself, if a friend of mine wants to see it. I've watched a few utterly awful movies late at night on the movie channels, when I've cycled through the TiVo offerings and there's nothing else on. (Two words: Monkey. Bone.) I'll also say in regards to the linked example, that I think Firefly kicks ass. I loved the show, I fully expect to love the movie, and Nathan Fillion is smokin' hot and I enjoy watching him play Malcolm Reynolds.

But, even with that said, I'm sure as hell not going to pay $7+ per ticket in order to watch a 30-60 second trailer, when I don't expect to like the feature film that's being shown after the trailers! Save your money and download the trailer, people! Or at least wait for a movie that you might actually, you know, enjoy. Hollywood really doesn't need your money *that* badly. ::eyeroll::

Anyway, break time is over. ::pwing!::
