[personal profile] batskeets
I currently have funfun bruises on my forearms, which I suspect are due to the fact that we did touch sparring at wushu practice last Friday. ^^; For those who don't know, we basically just try to tag the opponent on their torso--it's supposed to encourage us to be lighter on our feet and faster with movements.

On the good side, I actually won a bunch of matches and was declared champion of the day. On the bad side, I had to spar for so many consecutive matches that I was eventually feeling really winded, and I started to feel like something of an idiot for not simply throwing a match, so I could take a lousy break. Stupid pride. :p

Saturday involved going to Goodwill to find some zombie gear. I found a semi-hideous dress there that kind of screamed "50's Housewife", so now I'm all equipped to look like a person who's been dead for several decades. The outfit is pretty unastounding, really--the real fun will be doing the makeup and hair.

[livejournal.com profile] junsiew, James, and myself went to see The Grudge on Sunday afternoon--Janet had to watch it for class, James is obsessed with Sarah Michelle Gellar, and I was just looking for something to do. I think the genre is generally kind of lost on me, because I didn't find it all that scary. Interesting, yes, but scary? Not so much. My suspension of disbelief tends to go down with horror flicks, I guess. It wasn't a bad movie, though; I liked the setting and the style of it, and it would certainly be scary for some people, as Janet can attest. :)

After that, we dropped off [livejournal.com profile] junsiew and headed off to [livejournal.com profile] aleisha's baptism, which was interesting. We kind of got assailed by the Conversion Squad afterward, but I expected that, having been to several friends' churches previously, so no biggie. I figure it's a good thing if [livejournal.com profile] aleisha or any other friend of mine can find something they're looking for in a religion, but I must admit that as I gain more exposure to this sort of thing, I realize more and more that religion is not for me. ::shrug:: I'm not sure that I'd trust another person's word enough to let them tell me what God's all about.

Anyway, we went out for dinner a little while afterwards, and by the time we got back, the weekend was pretty much over. Where did the time go? Sheesh.

Also: this past week's Apprentice? SO. HAPPY. I couldn't ask for a better firing!
