"Show me! Sho-yu! Kik-ko-man! Kik-ko-man!"
Jul. 7th, 2004 08:11 amWow, have I felt crappy the past couple of days. Friday pretty much killed me, because even though I'd only had 4 hours of sleep, we were up until probably 5am cleaning/reorganizing the house and running out to Shari's for a late, late dinner. I also can't ever seem to get decent sleep the night before I go out of town, even for a short trip like Portland, so after all the fun vibes from my day trip wore off, I was dead tired. I spent a lot of time getting caught up on sleep today. ^^;
Anyway, yesterday with
threeleet and
totchiko was fun! Everyone pretty much had the same ideas I had as far as things to do, so I pretty much ran with that. I got a later start than I'd planned on, though, so we didn't get to do any of the Asian-style gardens, but we got to see a few things, even if we did had to take them in kind of fast. I still contend that I am a sucky tour guide, but I miraculously remembered how to get to the places I'd been before, and I managed to find my way to the places I hadn't yet visited, so I guess I did okay. :)
We started off heading towards Beaverton, because we're total dorks and the first thing we agreed upon was going to the Uwajimaya and Kinokuniya. ::rotfl:: We were going to go to Ikenohana for lunch (per
tracylynnquan's suggestion), but they were closing up when we got there at 2-ish. ^^; So, we had Japanese food at the restaurant attached to the Uwajimaya complex, which was pretty good.
I was a bad monkey while at the Kinokuniya, and bought 2 CDs that I probably shouldn't have, since I just bought a bunch of
pyrobaby's stuff recently, but OH WELL! ::rotfl:: They're both good, and how often do I actually go there? Eric searched the Uwajimaya for even one bottle of Qoo, but alas, it was in vain.
By the time we got done there, it was sometime after 4p, so we rolled on over to OMSI and goofed around with the exhibits until closing time. The human fetus exhibit (scroll down) was pretty interesting, but rather unsettling at the same time. (and of course, we completely missed the warning disclaimer at the beginning of the exhibit ;p) We took their hearing test survey, and I surprisingly have no hearing loss at that frequency! ::laughs::
Anyway, I'd figured on going to Montage for dinner, since it was right by OMSI, but we weren't quite hungry yet, so we killed a couple of hours at Powell's. Maya and I were in dire need of coffee, so we spent most of our time in the coffee shop and the gold room (sci-fi and fantasy!). I kind of wish we'd have seen more of the place, but we didn't have a whole lot of time, and I'm sure we could have easily spent an entire day wandering around at Powell's. But, now they can at least say that they've *been* to the largest independent bookstore in the world, na? :)
Lastly, we went back over to the industrial corner of town and ate at Montage! :D The Monday crowd meant that we didn't even have to wait for a table. And no, we didn't do the oyster shooters, but really, going there is an experience even without them. They wrapped up Maya's leftovers in a kitty shape, while I got a scorpion-looking thinger... I think I preferred the sea turtle I got last time, but it's still cool. Anyway, after dinner, I had to drop them off at their hotel and head back in time for my shift, so we took some goofy pictures, did goodbye hugs, and that was it.
So, yeah, most of the day involved food and drink, and just sitting around chatting it up, but it was a really nice time--I always feel like the company is more important than the activity. Maya sounded very hyped to come back and visit Oregon again, so I *promise* I'll get up earlier next time, and work out my schedule better, so we can actually do all the other things we wanted to do! :)
Anyway, as previously mentioned, my Tuesday involved a lot of sleeping. I did go to the gym after work, though, so that mission was accomplished. I have a lot of small stuff to do freelance-wise, though, so I'm kind of still stressing out about it. Tonight at 10:05p = King Arthur! Saturday = Spycraft, now that my ma and pa aren't coming up this weekend.
Anyway, I'm off to bed.

I like most of that stuff, but A) my interest or lack thereof in sex is nobody's business, hence why it would never be on my list, B) listing Japan *and* Japanese seems a bit redundant, and C) PIERCINGS? Uh, no. :p
