So, today has been pretty awesome, so far.

First off, I HAVE AN INTERVIEW! ::explode:: The Uni called today about the Info Tech Consultant position I applied for about a month ago, so I'm interviewing with them a week from Friday. I'd be doing tech support in addition to web site work, but I'd also be able to take classes for *way* cheap, and I'd probably get benefits, so I'm hoping it works out.

I also got a surprise package in the mail today! It was belated Christmas stuff from my other aunt, who wasn't around for the big family gathering this year. She got me a couple books: Brave New World and Of Love and Other Demons. It looks as though I'll have plenty of things to read for the next few weeks, between these and my dad's books. :)

Everybody has been really great recently about networking and such. ghost_girl knows somebody at Blizzard that might put in a good word for me, and I basically went "asdlfkahsdlfkha OMFG" because that's just too cool for words! I might be getting some help in the future from other folks, too. I also just applied for another web design job with a company in Eugene, which a couple of my friends actually work for, so I'll have to talk to them soon and feel them out on that.

Yes, it does pay to keep in touch with people that are anywhere near your field. I'm feeling relieved that I have *some* connections, because I didn't really make too many friends in my MMD classes before I graduated. All I can say is, I hope that I eventually gain enough connections to repay the people who are pitching in for me right now!

The only point of annoyance today: WHERE IS MY PS2?? Stupid USPS. BRING ME MY THINGS.

w00t, I talked to Matt and he will mention your name to Jeff who will mention it to the HR guy. I have no clue how reliable Jeff is, but he seems nice, so hopefully he will remember. I suck, I wish I had a more direct contact there!

I have no idea! LOL :) I have tech support experience in my work history, which probably helped for this job, because it's sort of a 50/50 computer support/web maintenance job. But thus far, the really cool companies with purely design/web jobs that I really wanted have been pretty unresponsive, so that's kind of depressing. ^^;;

yeah same here; I also have been applying to larger companies which has been a bitch-- I dont even get a rejection letter most of the time..
I can get shit ass jobs for 10-15 bucks an hour but have been unable to find anything more than that

oooooh oooh, but I may have a new blizzard contact!! My coworker lives next door to the parents of their webdesigner! :D FWIW, they gave him the job because he ran starcraft.org or something along those lines. It was a huge fansite for starcraft. So they'll be impressed by a)fan sites and b)starcraft sites. heh. :D
But coworker guy emailed him saying hi to see if he had the guy's email correct, so if he writes back, I'll get his email and put in a good word for you myself. :D
