I'm such a wushu star. ;p
Nov. 7th, 2003 07:10 pmI feel stupid. I'm doing butterfly kicks and jumps and spins at practice today, and I pick those up just fine, and then I manage to break myself while doing a *cartwheel*. I AM AWESOME HURHURHUR
See, I really favor my right side when I do cartwheels. My form is astronomically better, and it's far more comfortable--it's my default side for doing a cartwheel. But in wushu, we only do them on the *left* side, much to my chagrin. But hey, who am I to argue with hundreds of years of tradition?
So at one point, we're doing cartwheels, and I do a fantastic running approach for a left-side cartwheel, and then space out and try to do a right-side cartwheel. Thus, I fall on my ass spectacularly, and I now have a pretty sore right glute. HOORAY. How lame is it that I break myself on the simple stuff, while getting a good grip on completely new material? ;p
In other news, my Nano piece was starting to feel a bit like a Chuck Palahniuk novel yesterday, which is bad. I mean, I like his books, but I shouldn't yank his style. Thing is, I haven't done any hardcore writing in quite some time, and Invisible Monsters was the most recent piece of fiction that I've read. I think I managed to get away from that mindset by the beginning of chapter 3, though, so I'm feeling better now.
So, yeah. I'm hitting the showers now, and then we must do dinner. And then, MIGHTY BRUCE ON THE BIG SCREEN. :O
