batskeetsWell, here I am, cooped up in my cavelike bedroom, because it's terribly hot outside, and my windows are covered in tinfoil in order to keep the room from overheating. (old dorm trick--it actually works really well) I am not loving the heat.
In other news, Jerry Springer is likely running for office. Dear LORD. Are they going to start throwing chairs in Senate meetings? And whenever Cheney says anything, the crowd can chant "Sit down, ho! Sit down, ho!" ::asdlfkhasdlkfhadslkfh::
Work was easy last night, mostly. I wound upknitting playing Snood dispatching the whole night, and it was pretty laid-back. However, there was this one kid who called for a ride, and I got his ride info, and then he's all "Heeyyy, y'wanna come party with us?"
Me: "Uh, I have to work--"
Kid: "Until when?"
Me: "3am."
Kid: "Aw, well you sound BEAUTIFUL."
At which point, I roll my eyes, but just say thanks and then hustle them off the phone so I can answer the CB.
Now, this kind of thing happens to DDS employees a lot, and I have to say, why in hell do people even *ask* us to go party with them? I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHIFT, JACKASS. Maybe *you* would bail on work to go get drunk with a bunch of complete strangers, but *I* actually have some sense of responsibility. And a sense of not wanting to wind up molested or dead in a ditch. :p
Anyway, I thought I was done dealing with it, but then this kid starts calling back every 5-10 minutes to ask when his ride's going to be there, when I gave them a 45 minute wait. After the first call or two, I started screening out that number on the caller ID. So he calls again on a completely different phone. By the time the van actually got there to pick up the kid and his friends, he had used three, maybe even FOUR different phones. What. The HELL.
Anyway, I'm not sure what I'm going to do now--I'll probably do some Pilates, shower, eat, and then start coding like nobody's business. I think there was talk of seeing a movie tonight, but I can't remember what was decided. ^^; Well, maybe I'll find out later.
