Tinkerings...

So Windows 2000 didn't like the DDR mat... so, since I've been meaning to do it for a while anyway, I reformatted the HD on Shecky and installed Win98. Methinks there are few people who would be both interested in a middle-of-the-road machine *and* want Win2k installed on it.

s/people/homeusers/ and you might be on to something, though. In a business environment, it's absolutely essential that Win2K run on less-than-cutting-edge kit. In a home environment, there aren't that many compelling reasons to run Win2K for casual use. The fork merge is going to be WinXP, after all.

Yeah, I was thinking in terms of the people I'd likely be selling it to: college kids who don't know a lot about computers.

You couldn't pay me to install Win2k. 98SE for life!

But 2k is so stable and nice! Too bad half your games don't work on it. :p
