Oy, I feel like crap. :p Claritin is keeping a lot of the allergy symptoms at bay, but I didn't get a lot of sleep, so that makes it all worse.
Reason for the lack of sleep: I was called this morning by the temp agency about doing an interview at Symantec this afternoon. I was more than a little frazzled, because I didn't have much time to prepare, but they said I did well. I'm not sure if I agree entirely, but it was nice to hear it. :) I should be hearing back pretty quickly, because the temp agency says it would start next Monday. Yikes! I hope it works out. It would be good money, and a good opportunity to flex my nerdy muscles in Excel on a regular basis.
I *thought* I was done with my TCC app, but apparently they also want a "statement of cultural self-awareness," along with all the other materials. Well, I'm half-Chinese, I like Japan, I've studied French, I practice martial arts... is that culturally aware enough? I'm not entirely sure what to say about it.
I think the hardest question to answer during interviews for the more random jobs I apply for is why I'm interested in the position--if you look at the prior work experience and education listed on my resume, it's pretty darn obvious that web design/dev is where I truly want to be. It's not that I wouldn't *like* working in other jobs, because I'm open to a lot of things, and there are a lot of things that I could be good at, and that I wouldn't mind doing. But, sometimes it's hard to think of an answer that wouldn't make it sound like I was "just settling," you know? I could see myself doing office work or sales or something of that ilk for a few years, but I'd want to get a position working with web technologies eventually.
Speaking of web technologies, my brain is bursting with design ideas for my freelance projects, so I *need* to get some work done tonight. I simply must get these ideas down somewhere. So, I'll probably be up late working on it.
I think I'm going to take a nap before wushu, because my eyes are stinging from pollen exposure and lack of sleep.

Oh, right, I suppose they're trying to find someone who's truly "motivated" to "excel" or something, on account of how making phat loot and/or being able to eat doesn't inspire the average American worker. Right? Right? :P
Interviews are such bullshit, I swear. That's why I've resolved to never play the interview bullshit game again.. no matter how unhireable it makes me. :P
